How to use this Wordle helper
- Green: type each green letter in the box for its position.
- Yellow: type every yellow letter in the yellow box. Order doesn't matter.
- Grey: type every grey letter so words with them are removed.
- Pick your next guess from the list. Words marked used have already been a Wordle answer, so they are less likely.
The list includes uncommon words, because Wordle accepts many of them as guesses. The daily answer is almost always a common everyday word, so favour words you recognise.
A worked example
Say your first guess is CRANE. C, N and E turn grey, R turns yellow and A turns green in the middle. Type A in the third green box, R in the yellow box and CNE in the grey box. The solver drops from 12,653 words to 88, including everyday words like BOARD, HOARD, GUARD, AWARD, DIARY, SMART, SHARP, SWARM, START, DWARF, ALARM.
That is still a lot, so pick a second guess that tests new letters. A word like BOARD or SHARP checks several fresh consonants at once, and each new colour shrinks the list again. Most games are down to a handful of words by the third guess.
What past Wordle answers tell us
Across the last 106 Wordle answers on this site, these letters appeared most often. The percentage is the share of answers that contained the letter at least once.

The most common first letters were S (16%), P (12%), R (8%), B (7%), C (7%). If you are torn between two words, the one with more common letters is usually the safer guess.
Solver tips
- Don't reuse grey letters. Every guess should test new letters until you have three or four in place.
- Watch for double letters. If the list is tiny and nothing fits, try the "Has a repeat" filter.
- Prefer unused words. Words marked as past answers are unlikely to come up again.

How does the Wordle solver work?
It checks your green, yellow and grey letters against 12,653 five-letter words and keeps only the words that agree with every clue. The list updates as you type.
Is using a Wordle solver cheating?
Wordle is a personal puzzle, so it is up to you. Many players only open a solver when they are down to their last guess, or use it afterwards to see which words they missed.
Why are some words marked as used?
Those words have already been a Wordle answer. Wordle rarely repeats an answer, so a word that has not been used yet is usually a better guess.
What if my word has a repeated letter?
Type the letter once in green or yellow. Set "Repeated letters" to "Has a repeat" if you suspect a double letter, as in words like FLOOR or SPELL.
Why does the solver show words I have never heard of?
Wordle accepts many uncommon words as guesses, so the list includes them. The daily answer is almost always a common word, so favour the ones you know.
